Recognition comes first.
The expression, markings, ear shape, posture and small details named in your notes carry more weight than decoration. Style should give those features a place to live, not replace them.
If an image looks polished but no longer feels like the animal you know, the portrait is not ready.
Restraint serves the memory.
Not every object, color or texture needs to remain. The studio edits toward the few elements that make the source feel specific: a look, a place, a collar, a patch of light or one everyday habit.
The result may be tactile, graphic or quiet, but it should not become louder than the memory itself.
Your eye is part of the process.
You know the difference between a generic likeness and the familiar face. The proof gives you a clear moment to inspect recognition, composition and atmosphere before final delivery.
Feedback can be simple and specific: “the gaze should feel softer,” “keep the pale mark above the eye,” or “the room should feel less bright.” You do not need design language.

Your source photo stays outside the public WordPress media library. Customer work is not added to the public gallery, advertising or social posts without permission.

Choose the photo for the expression or posture you remember—not for a perfect background. If the image is difficult to judge, the studio can check it before you order.
